The scholarship was developed with the belief that education and sports are vital in character development of today’s youth, allowing them to continue to be successful after leaving school and entering the career of their choice.  This is an opportunity for past players to receive tuition assistance in the form of a one time payment that is applicable to their post secondary education. In providing this assistance we hope that we are doing our part in helping players to continue on in their education and dreams.

It is named after our former President & Friend Mike Leach.

Tribal Printing Generously Offered To Help Support This Award 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Past players of Windsor Minor Football who have played a minimum of 2 years in our league and are entering into an accredited post secondary education facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the league with no outstanding monies or equipment.

WHAT IS THE SCHOLARSHIP BASED ON?

The criteria that will be considered upon application includes but not limited to:

Acceptance letter from the college/university you will be attending

High School Transcripts

Sports participation (does not have to be football)

Community involvement

Years played in Windsor Minor Football

Letters of commendation (past coaches, teachers, leaders of community events etc.)

Applicants should gather everything together and send it into the league by email to windsorminorfootball@gmail.com

Please make sure any scanned papers or copies sent are clear and easy to read.

WHO DECIDES WHO GETS THE AWARDS?

The W.M.F.A. Executive Board will meet to review all applications and select the successful applicants based on the criteria set forth by the W.M.F.A..

We will be accepting Scholarship applications after January 1st for the fall semester in the current year.

The closing date is June 1st, in the current year, at 11:59PM, with no other applications accepted after this time. 

A decision will be made by July 1st, of the current year and winners will be contacted by email.
